Chosen. As a Christian you are. That is good news. Pure grace. Jesus says, “…I have called you friends … you did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit…” John 15:15-16. Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 5:18, “You have been given by Jesus the ministry of reconciliation and…the entrustment of the message of reconciliation.” We also have something to do!
This coming Sunday, August 6th, I want to invite you to be a part of this special day. It is for you and others who consider Northside Church their church home and those who are in the process of deciding if this is the local church for them.
In the morning service at 10 am we will engage in worship and we will be taking a brief look at our past with a heart of gratitude and an extended look at our future through the eyes of faith. Then from 6 pm to 7:30 pm we are inviting everyone to return to attend our Ministry Fair where we will consider how we will roll up our sleeves and respond to the words of Jesus found in Matthew 9:37, “…the harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest…”
The food, the fellowship, the work, and the fun will be good as we think how we will live out our calling as a church and what our ministry might look like for the next 12 months. It will be a time of thinking, brainstorming, praying, asking questions, interacting and setting some rails for our ministry to run on. It will not be a finished product but it will be a jump start for the weeks to come.
Most importantly I want you to see that you, and everyone, has a position of value and importance within the local church. I want you to find that place.
God gifts us as a people so we can love well those whom God brings into our lives. Together we are what Paul described as the body of Christ which is made up of many members, not one. Together we become so much more than the sum of the parts. If one suffers we all suffer, of one is honored we all rejoice together.
The local church is to be one awesome place. Not perfect but different than anyplace else. A place where broken people find hope, grace and a purpose for living that gives all of life significant meaning.
Do not be left out! Join us next Sunday. If you have questions please call me.
