This is a big deal. Easter. It is not just for Christians but seemingly it draws in people of various beliefs and persuasions. Multiple billboards around town remind us of special Easter Worship Services. Various communities have Easter Egg Hunts for kids; and most churches do a Spring cleaning because guests are coming! Why? And does the answer matter?
For the Christian Church, the Celebration of Easter is not a trivial event. It is important because upon it rest the lever that lifts the total weight of the Christian Faith. The celebration is about Jesus and His professed resurrection. The Apostle Paul writes in I Corinthians 15:17-19 “If Christ has not been raised (from the dead) your faith is futile…and we are of all people most pitied.”
Since its inception, the Christian Church and the testimony of the Biblical text is the truth & the reality of the resurrection of Jesus. If the resurrection is false, then Christianity has no unique place in the smorgasbord of world religions. It loses its cornerstone of truth. C.S. Lewis put it this way, “Christianity, if false is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is moderately important.”
Most of us have questions regarding God, faith, the Bible and Jesus. What better time and place to begin a conversation than Easter Sunday. At Northside Church we understand everyone needs a safe place to consider big questions.
We invite you to come and join us this Easter Sunday as we celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus and to begin a conversation that just might make a difference.
