We believe that church is not about a building, but building relationships.
Conversation it’s important! So at Northside Church we are planning several opportunities for our church and our community to have an ongoing conversation regarding the Christian faith and its truth claims.
Whether it’s with each other or in our community, we value people and serving as we connect in Christ. We have a variety of ministries you can become involved in and plenty more we’d like to start as our church develops.
Below, you’ll find volunteer opportunities to serve in existing ministries or ministries we still need to establish as we serve North Austin.
Teaching and Leading – we are always eager to have individuals interested in teaching children, youth, young adults or adults of any age. We currently offer a Women’s Bible Study on Tuesday nights at 7:00pm, through April 10th; and a Men’s Bible Study on Friday mornings at 7:00am (coffee & light breakfast at 6:45am). Both studies are at the church. Starting on April 12th, we will start Alpha Groups on Thursdays at 7:00pm
Special Events – we often volunteer in community events and partner with local schools to help them put on successful events. We partner with River Oaks Elementary School and Connally High School on various levels and enjoy working together. We always need volunteers to make sure each even runs smoothly.
Facility management – Those who serve behind the scenes are so appreciated at Northside Church. We always need help cleaning, setting up for services and potlucks, kitchen duties and more.
Youth Group and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) – we recently established a relationship with the FCA at Connally High School, which just kicked off in September 2016. Our pastor speaks at some of their meetings and our volunteers have served meals to football players and athletes from all sports for special occasions. We always have a great time interacting with youth. We hope to see these students come to church and start a youth group in the near future.
First impressions – Being made to feel welcome is one thing our church specializes in as visitors come in. We are always open to more smiling faces to be greeters and ushers for our guests on Sunday mornings.
Graphics/website – We have individuals serving to create our newsletters, bulletins, flyers and manage our website, but if you have a heart for these activities, there’s always room for more help!
Hospitality – Hospitality is about more than just welcoming guests. We need people willing to visit our members, call church family who might be sick or injured, arrange for meals to be delivered to those in need and so much more. If your heart lies here, please let us know!
Music software – Displaying the lyrics to our worship songs for all to sing along to is a valuable tool. If you can help, we need you.
Musicians – We love our Northside worship band, but we’ve got plenty of room for newcomers. We welcome vocalists and instruments of nearly every kind. See our worship leader Jim if you are interested!
Nursery – We don’t see many little ones yet, but we are growing and we want them to have excellent, loving care. We’d love to have you on standby if this is your specialty.
Nursing home – Our church sits directly across the street from a nursing home, and they’d love to have our members visit or volunteer. We have one person who teaches a weekly Bible study there, but we’d love to partner with them even more!
Prayer Team – Prayer is crucial to our church. We have a prayer team who meets on Sunday mornings to pray before the church service, and on the first Monday of every month. We also participate in the city-wide Unceasing Prayer Movement, when our church family signs up for an hour to pray on their own at home or wherever they are. If you’d like to join our Prayer Team, you can never have too many people praying!
School outreach – We mentioned above that we currently partner with River Oaks Elementary and Connally High School’s FCA, but there are multiple opportunities to work with our local schools. It feels good to give back to our students and teachers. Let us know if you can help.
Service sound production- Our sound team makes sure the worship team sounds their best each Sunday morning. If you have skills in sound production, we want to hear from you!
